Summer Public Night – Space Debris Re-entries: The Consequences of Expanding our Littering to Space

August 8 @ 8:30 pm - 11:00 pm EDT

We’ve been littering in space for decades – and it’s starting to come back down. As the number of satellites and rocket launches grows, so does the amount of debris orbiting Earth, and not all of it stays up there. Join us on Saturday, August 8th as Tammy Do explores the growing problem of space debris re-entries – where it comes from, what happens when it falls back to Earth, and what the consequences are of expanding our littering habit beyond our own planet. 🛰️

The evening kicks off with a talk in the classroom, followed by a tour of the Observatory and hands-on astronomy demos. Skies permitting, our telescopes will be ready for observing – a perfect chance to explore the night sky on a warm summer evening. 🔭

FREE admission, no registration required! Drop by for a unique evening under the stars.
